Literature Text

Dark was the night and cold the morn
the wind was howling when the girl was born
deep in the mountains and high in the hills
where winter and evil froze hearts with their chill

Days were ever cloudy and grey
rarely kind words did people say
The child alone tried to be kind
but abuse alone was all she did find

She sought beauty in her cold little world
but was struck down and outside hurled
into the snow so deep and cold
Ragged clothes no warmth did hold

Stumbling, freezing, yet somehow found
a mine-tunnel to the deep underground
Down the cavern, tired and weak
Longing for love and searching for heat

Awoke by a fire, without alarm
Somehow knowing the freedom from harm
He gave her food and words so kind
Invitation to stay for all of time

She gladly accepted and so never heard
from her village a single word
They didn't try to send a note
the paper was burnt, the pens were broke

From the fire that burns as a terrible sign
the town didn't scream; it didn't have time.
And down in the tunnel dwelt the two
laughing and loving and able to do

Whatever they wished, and always so kind.
Lost to the world for the rest of time.
Old poem of mine I touched up a little bit.

A ripping story (I don't know what that means, but it's good).
